Description

Basic Biscuits for breakfasts, dinners and brunches. Good with butter and jelly for quick snacks. Recipe came from The American Housewife Cook Book (no longer in print). Each one my mother's girls, Rita, Myself and Ruth, received a copy of this book. To my amazement my husband's mother also had this cook book! I made John J. O'Hara, Sr. Ginger Bread cookies for his last Christmas he was with us. HE DIDN'T WANT TO SHARE!

Ingredients
  • 2 cup Whole grain flour, or King Arthur whole wheat (Can pick this up at local grocery store such as Publix)
  • 3 tsp Baking Powder
  • 1 tsp Salt (I use pink Sea Salt)
  • 1/4 lb cold butter (cut in with pastry cutter or two knives)
  • 1/4 cup Milk, reconstituted dry
Instructions
  1. Combine dry ingredients in a bowl, cut in butter with 2 knives or pastry cutter.

  2. Add milk and mix quickly. Knead for a few second on lightly floured pastry canvas.

  3. Pat out 1/2 inch thick and cut with biscuit cutter.

  4. Place on greased baking sheet close together for not crust on sides, or far apart for crust all around.

  5. Bake in 450 degree Fahrenheit oven for approximately 12 minutes. Let cool.
Set aside in towel wrapped bowl.
